5 Top Tips For Journaling

1. Record

Use your journal to record your thoughts and prayers. Doing this often helps us hear and discern God’s voice, as we allow our inner thoughts to become part of our conscious awareness. Try and set a regular time to do this, or you may want to write down thoughts throughout the day or record them on voice memos to note down later.

2. Bible

You may want to record a Bible verse or passage of scripture that you are reading or sense God highlighting to you. Spend time meditating on it and write down (or draw) the reflections that come to you.

3. Thanksgiving

Write down three to five things you are grateful for each day. The Bible repeatedly reminds us to give thanks, and research shows that this is good for us physically and emotionally as well as spiritually.

4. Stand-Out Moments

Make note of stand-out points of talks you listen to at home or at church, as well as any prophetic words or pictures you give or receive. You may also want to record any significant moments or conversations when you sensed God’s presence.

5. Reflect

Reflect regularly on what you have written in your journal. This doesn’t have to take long, but it helps in lots of ways, for example, seeing answers to prayer and discerning God’s will for our lives.
