Sunday 7th March | Care Home Cards

It has been so long since we’ve been able to visit our older friends in Beverley Court and Cottingham Hall Residential Homes.  We would therefore love to make them some lovely Easter cards to let them know that we are thinking about them and to give them a message of hope.  The older people particularly love cards made by children – they are always very special to them!

We’d love it if today you could spend time with your family making some cards with an Easter design on the front, with a message to remind the older people that Jesus loves them and is alive!

Here are a few ideas

  • An empty tomb/cross
  • Sunrise/Dawn – light and bright
  • Flowers
  • ‘Jesus is Alive’ or ‘Happy Easter’ in bright colours

Once you’ve decorated the outside of the card, you might want to write a short message to let our older friends know that you are thinking about them.  You could include a verse from the Bible linked with the Easter message.

Here are some Bible Verse ideas:

Luke 24:6-7: “He is not here; he has risen!”

John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Romans 10:9: “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Matthew 28:5-6: “The angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said’”

John 11:25: “Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection, and the life.  The one who believes in me will live , even though they die, and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.”

Revelation 1:17b-18a: “Don’t be afraid! I am the First and Last. I am the living one. I died, but look–I am alive forever and ever!”

John 14:6: “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'”

You can make as many as you like and drop them off at our church building anytime, Monday – Thursday 9am – 5pm, until Wednesday, 24th March. Please sign them ‘With love from Hull Vineyard Church’ and  leave the envelope unsealed so we can add the older people’s names to the cards so they are just for them!

Thank you!

Worship

Why not play these songs in the background whilst you make your cards?
They remind us what Jesus has done for us and how we want to tell everyone the good news!

Prayer

Pray that our older friends would know that God is good and that He loves them.
