40 Days of Prayer & Fasting

1st January - 9th February

From January 1st we are stepping into a season of prayer and fasting for 40 days as a church community. We want to start 2025 with Prayer as our first response, not our last resort. Our vision is to put God first as we intentionally seek Him in prayer and fasting and believe for Him to move in powerful ways.

2 Chronicles 7:14

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

We have created a number of wonderful events throughout the 40 days to facilitate our engagement with prayer. We would love you to get involved. Here’s some key dates to book into your diary!

This is more than a movement of people, it's a move of God. We believe the prayers, tears and faith of the saints brings Heaven to Earth. This is no small thing. You can play your part.

‘Let the fires go out in the boiler room of the church and the place will still look smart and clean, but it will be cold. The Prayer Room is the boiler room for its spiritual life.’ Leonard Ravenhill

Fasting

Alongside a renewed pursuit of Jesus in prayer, we sense an invitation from God to press into the practice of fasting.

What is fasting?

Fasting is the act of abstaining for a period of time to awaken our hunger for God. Hunger reflects our deep yearning for something we cannot fill on our own–life with the Father. By setting aside distractions and prioritising His presence, fasting becomes a spiritual discipline that draws us closer to God. You can fast in different ways:

‍LIQUID FAST: Consuming only liquids for a specific period of time
PARTIAL FAST: Abstaining from specific kinds of food
TV/SOCIAL MEDIA: Choosing to abstain from certain technologies

Whether sacrificing a meal, one of our most essential daily routines, or taking a break from distractions, fasting is less about what you’re giving up and more about what you’re gaining–deeper intimacy with God.

Please always consider your own health conditions, seek wisdom from God and consult a medical professional when making the decision on what your personal fast will look like during these times.

We would love for you to begin to think about how you can engage with our 40 days of prayer and fasting. In the new year we will be sharing a bunch of resources to help you, so keep your eyes on our socials for those.
